RMT Careers at The Knead

RMT Career Paths We Hire For

We have three open lanes. Read each and pick the one that describes you.

Registered Massage Therapist

If you are licensed with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC, formerly CMTBC) and in good standing, this is the lane for you.

We hire on a contractor basis with a transparent split, full administrative support including booking, charting on Jane App, direct billing, laundry, linens, and oils, plus flexibility on hours.

Part-time RMT jobs are open at all three studios. Full-time RMTs at The Knead typically run 25 to 32 treatment hours a week, which is the sustainable upper bound for soft-tissue work.

New Grad RMT Jobs With Structured Mentorship

Just wrote your CCHPBC exams or finished a recognized program? Welcome. New grad RMT jobs are one of the most stressful chapters of a career.

You have spent two years learning anatomy and assessment, and now you are expected to also be a businessperson, a marketer, and a confident clinician overnight. We do not expect that.

We pair every new grad with a senior RMT mentor, hand you a full client list, and walk you through the rest. You focus on your treatments. We handle the rest.

Bodyworker / Spa Therapist Roles for RMT Students

This is the role that does not exist at most clinics. If you are currently enrolled at WCCMT, VCMT, Langara, OVCMT, CDI, Vancouver Career College, Sprott Shaw, Camosun, or any other CCHPBC-recognized program, you can join us as a bodyworker or spa therapist while you finish school.

You earn money. You build hours. You learn what client communication looks like in a real treatment room.

And on the day you sit for your registration exam, your client base is already there waiting for you.

Bodywork-to-RMT: Earn While You Study

Here is how the Bodywork-to-RMT path works in plain language. As a current RMT student, you join us as a bodyworker — a non-registered massage practitioner who provides relaxation and spa-style treatments.

Your scope is narrower than a full RMT. There are no assessments, no insurance billing, and no clinical claims, but the work is real, the pay is real, and the experience compounds.

Most of our bodyworkers run 15 to 25 hours a week alongside their school schedule. Once you pass your CCHPBC exams, you transition into a full RMT contract with us, with a higher rate and a client list already in place.

Why do this instead of waiting until graduation? Three reasons. One, the cost of an RMT program in Vancouver runs $25,000 to $35,000 in tuition, and bodywork hours offset that. Two, the muscle memory of working with paying clients in a real studio is different from clinic days at school — you learn pace, language, and posture under your own load. Three, the day you become an RMT you do not have to start from zero on a clientele. You inherit one.

That is what “a launchpad for your practice” actually means.

Mentorship at The Knead: What It Actually Looks Like

Most clinics use the word mentorship. Here is what it means at The Knead, in detail, so you can compare.

  • Senior RMT pairing. Every new grad and bodyworker is paired with a specific senior RMT — not a vague “team” — for their first six months.
  • Case-review sessions. Twice a month, your mentor reviews two or three active client cases with you, including treatment plan, assessment, what worked, and what to try next.
  • Hands-on technique check-ins. Monthly, in-room, on a real body. Your mentor watches you work and gives you feedback you cannot get from a textbook.
  • CCHPBC exam prep support. For students approaching board exams, your mentor walks you through case scenarios, palpation review, and Law, Ethics and Professionalism material.
  • Career conversations every quarter. Specialization, teaching, opening your own practice, mobile work — these are real options, and we help you map a route.

The mentorship counts toward your CCHPBC continuing education and quality assurance requirements once you are registered. We document it for you.

Compensation, Hours, and What We Provide

We will be specific. Hand-waved compensation language is one of the things that frustrates Vancouver RMTs about job listings, so here is the structure.

  • RMT contractor split: competitive, ranges with experience and full-time vs. part-time status. Real numbers are shared in the interview — no bait-and-switch.
  • Bodyworker / spa therapist pay: hourly, with raises tied to retention and rebooking rates.
  • All supplies provided: laundered linens, oils, hot stones, electric tables, pregnancy bolsters, heating pads, towels, and Jane App access.
  • All booking and billing handled: front desk takes calls, manages the calendar, runs direct billing for major insurers, and processes ICBC and MSP-related claims where applicable.
  • Flexible scheduling: pick your shifts. Mornings, evenings, weekends — we run early-bird through evening hours and stay open weekends across all three studios.
  • No room rental, no hidden fees. You are not paying us for the privilege of working here.

Hours are flexible by design. A new grad on a full-time path typically works four shifts a week, which lands at 24 to 28 treatment hours plus charting time. Part-time RMTs run two or three shifts. We do not push therapists past sustainable volume.

RMT Students: Don't Wait Until Graduation to Start Your Career

RMT jobs in Vancouver are easy to find. Good ones are not. There's a difference between a clinic that needs a body in a treatment room and a clinic that wants to build a career with you. The Knead is the second kind. We hire registered massage therapists, new grads, and current RMT students who want to do their best work in a calm space, with a real client schedule, and people in their corner who have been where they're standing.

If you are an RMT looking for a clinic that treats your work like a craft — not a treatment factory — keep reading. If you are an RMT student wondering how you'll ever build a practice while you're still in school, this is for you, too. We've designed a path for both.

Why The Knead is a Different Kind of RMT Job in Vancouver

Most RMT job listings in Vancouver promise the same three things: a clean clinic, a friendly team, and “mentorship.” That language has stopped meaning much. Here is what we actually offer the registered massage therapists we hire.

Full Client Book

Full client book from your first week

Our marketing team owns SEO, paid search, social, and the local Google Business profiles for all three studios. New RMTs at The Knead are usually booked solid within their first month, and many of our bodyworkers transition to full RMT status with a waiting list of clients who already know and trust them.

You do not have to build a clientele alone. We do that work, and you walk into a calendar that’s already filling itself.

Earning Potential

Your income depends on booked treatment hours

In Vancouver, BC, registered massage therapists can earn somewhere between $60,000 and $150,000 a year depending on hours, split, experience, and client volume. The variable that moves your number the most is not only your skill — it is whether your treatment hours are full.

At The Knead, we solve for that by investing in the marketing, local search, paid media, and studio visibility that help keep your schedule active.

Designed Studios

A studio designed for therapists, not throughput

Walk into one of our spaces and you’ll feel it. Linen tones, warm lighting, real walls instead of partitions, and treatment rooms big enough to actually move around your client.

We chose interiors that calm both the person on the table and the person standing over it. RMTs who came from high-volume franchise clinics tell us their bodies feel different at the end of the week here. That’s the point.

Prime Locations

Three Vancouver locations to choose from

The Knead operates three studios: Mount Pleasant in East Vancouver, Kitsilano on the west side, and Marpole in South Vancouver. You can work at one location, or rotate between studios if that fits your schedule.

Most therapists choose the location closest to where they live and build their client base there. Each studio offers the full Knead service menu, direct billing, and the same compensation structure.

Marketing Power

We handle the visibility so you can focus on treatment

You should not have to become a full-time marketer just to build a sustainable RMT practice. Our team handles the search visibility, local SEO, studio branding, content, ads, and lead flow that help bring new clients through the door.

That means your energy can stay where it belongs: on your clients, your treatment quality, and your growth as a therapist.

From Your School to Our Studios

We hire from every recognized RMT program in BC. If you trained at one of the schools below, your education already meets our hiring standard. If your school isn't listed and you're a current student or recent grad, send us your application anyway—we read everything.

  • West Coast College of Massage Therapy (WCCMT) — New Westminster and Victoria

  • Vancouver College of Massage Therapy (VCMT) — Vancouver and Surrey

  • Langara College — Vancouver

  • Vancouver Career College — Burnaby (RMT diploma)

  • CDI College — Surrey and Burnaby

  • Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy (OVCMT) — Vernon

  • Western Community College (WCC) — Surrey and Abbotsford

Foot traffic is steady, the client base skews mixed-age and active, and the studio is a short ride from the SkyTrain. RMT jobs at this location are our most-requested. If you live east of Cambie, this is probably your studio.

If sports and rehab work interests you, Kits is a good match.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Yes, and we structure the role for new grads specifically. Senior-RMT mentor pairing, case reviews twice a month, monthly hands-on technique check-ins, and a full schedule from week one. You will not be left to figure it out alone.

  • Item descriptionAn RMT is a registered massage therapist licensed by the CCHPBC, with full assessment authority and the ability to bill insurance. Your Future at The Knead Starts Today

Vancouver has hundreds of RMT jobs. A small number of them will actually invest in your career. If you've read this far, you already know the difference matters to you. Send us your application and let's talk.

Who Thrives at The Knead

Honest version: We are not the right fit for everyone. The therapists who do their best work here tend to share a few traits.

  • They care about the craft. Soft-tissue work is the job, not a stepping stone.

  • They want stability. A full client book and a calm room beat the rush of a high-volume spa.

  • They like working alongside other smart RMTs. Our team trades cases, techniques, and reading recommendations weekly.

  • They want to be paid fairly and told the truth. We share our split structure in the first interview.

  • They are CCHPBC-registered, eligible for registration, or currently enrolled in a recognized program.

If three or more of those describe you, we want to hear from you.
